The Poltergust is a type of vacuum invented by Professor E. Gadd, designed for sucking up ghosts. He has made several different versions of the Poltergust, most of which were/are used by Luigi:

  • The Poltergust 3000 was, despite its name, the first version of the Poltergust to be invented. It was used by Luigi in the first Luigi's Mansion.
  • The Super Poltergust 3001 is an upgraded version of the original Poltergust that can be ridden for high-speed travel. This is the only Poltergust model that Luigi has not been known to use, but E. Gadd has used it to get to places fast.
  • The Poltergust 4000 is another rideable version, this time being a kart. It was Luigi's go-to kart in Mario Kart DS, but has also been used by Yoshi, Waluigi, etc.
    • The Ice-blue Poltergust is another kart. It's based on the Poltergust 4000 and is the go-to kart of Penguin Luigi.
  • The Poltergust 5000 is an upgraded Poltergust that finally ditches the transport thing, instead being primarily designed for ghost capture like the original. To this end, it has additional features like the Strobulb, Dark-Light Device, and Power Surge. Luigi used this one in Luigi's Mansion 2.
  • The Poltergust G-00 is another upgraded ghost catcher. Its main improvement is its ability to store and deploy Gooigi, as well as transfer the user's consciousness to and from him. This is the one Luigi had in Luigi's Mansion 3.
    • There's also another kart based on this version of the Poltergust, which is used by not just Luigi but Mario as well.
